Top 5: Celebrity Patents, Part 3

We’re back with a new celebrity Top 5! Check out the list below to see if your favorite superstar is also an inventor or innovator.

1) Bill Nye

Not only is Bill Nye everyone’s favorite science-educator from the ’90s, he’s also an inventor! Bill Nye’s patent is for a toe shoe, to help support a ballerina dancing en pointe.

2) Kanye West

Mr. West’s patent, “Multiple Screens for Immersive Audio/Video Experience,” is directly inspired by his Cruel Summer film screening setup at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival, where he had a custom-made 7 screen theater.

3) Julie Newmar

The original Catwoman designed a patent for shapewear pantyhose that would enhance the derriere as opposed to flatten it. Since the patent was filed in the 1970s, it’s possible the idea was inspired, in part, by her iconic catsuit.

4) Penn Jillette

This stage magician’s patent doesn’t focus on magic tricks, but instead a hydro-therapeutic stimulator, inspired by hot tubs with massage jets.

5) Paula Abdul

Another celebrity with a patent related to her field, Paula Abdul’s “dynamic microphone support apparatus” would allow musicians to stand on the microphone stand and move about without worrying about falling off.
