SYNCHRONOUS DRIVE APPARATUS WITH NON-CIRCULAR DRIVE ELEMENTS
This Study relates to drive systems synchronized using timing belts (e.g. an automobile internal combustion engine) which must elimintate or minimize undesirable fluctuating load torques from the moving parts of the motor (which may cause noise or damage). Specifically, this Study relates to a system which uses a non-circular rotor which creates a periodic fluctuating corrective torque on the timing belt. The torque created by this non-circular rotor reduces or substantially cancels the undesireable fluctuating load torques created by the motor.
The system should be designed such that the non-circular rotor applies an opposing fluctuating corrective torque which minimizes or cancels the fluctuating load torques from sources such as a the camshaft, water pump or the fuel pump. The system may use one or more non-circular rotors.
Please note that references which do not show all of the following elements will be Declined:
(a) torque reduction or cancellation,
(b) by means of a non-circular rotor, and
(c) in a timing belt-type system.
