METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR REQUESTING PRIOR ART FROM THE PUBLIC IN RETURN FOR A REWARD

We invite the Advisor community to research AOP's own patent application in a peer review process. This invention is for a system for requesting prior art in exchange for compensation. The amount of the compensation is based on the value of the information as determined by auction.

Basis for Selection:

To evaluate and strengthen pending patent rights

Patent Number: U.S. Patent Application 12/058,653 | Latest Date for Prior Art: March 27, 2007

Filing Date of Patent: March 28, 2008 | Owner(s): Article One Partners Holdings, LLC

Interested Parties:

Description:

This Study is a request for a "State of the Art Collection." In State of the Art Studies, payment of the Reward is guaranteed to the AOP community  The Reward will be paid for the 1-2 references that best describe the highest level of development of the technology of the claims as of the Latest Date for Prior Art, March 27, 2007.

This patent study includes the claims contained in a single patent application. Here is an exemplary claim:

57. A system for providing a monetized value of information, said system comprising:

a. an information request module, wherein said information request module is configured to display over a computer network a request for information and a description of compensation for information responsive to said information request;

b. an auction module, wherein said auction module is configured to permit a plurality of information seekers to bid during a bidding process on a right to gain exclusive access or first access to said information responsive to said information request if said information is received, wherein said auction module permits a plurality of bidders to submit bids and the bid with the greatest value is the highest bid, and wherein until completion of the bidding process, the auction module does not disclose whether said information responsive to said information request has been received;

c. a receipt of information module, wherein said receipt of information module is configured to receive a description of at least one response to said information request;

d. a display module, wherein said display module is configured to display over said computer network a description of whether said information responsive to said information request has been received; and

e. a central processing unit, wherein said central processing unit is operably coupled to said information request module, said auction module, said receipt of information module and said display module.

WHY ARE WE POSTING AN AOP OPEN STUDY?

The AOP Open Study is a way for all of us to learn.  We look forward through the transparency of this Study, to assist you in conducting your research and to learn how best to support our community.  We hope that our community learns more about AOP and how to successfully work with this platform for compensation and participation as part of the AOP community.  Please click here for "a peek behind the scenes" from Cheryl Milone, our Founder and CEO, and the inventor of the Study Patent Application.

The responses to this Study are presented publicly on our forum here, as well as research tips and a dialog about the process of identifying the highest quality responses.  We ask that discussions focus on the technology described in responses and a mapping to the technology described in the Study patent application.
The AOP Open Study process begins with Advisors sending in responses with highlighting to show the most relevant disclosures in the publication.  This mirrors the approach for Studies generally.  Then the AOP Open takes a separate path. Advisors can review other responses and identify other areas of publications that describe (or in patent lingo "teach") areas of the patent claims.  This open dialog is possible because AOP is sponsoring this Study and we have made a decision to enable a peer review process so that our community can have an open dialog about the work product that drives our platform. We hope in learning more about our process, you also learn about each other.

Team AOP has a sense of the tremendous intellect and high standards of our community.  We appreciate that our Advisors choose to spend their valuable time and efforts building a platform that benefits not only them but the public by improving the integrity of the patent system.  Together we are monetizing a public good.  We expect spending time working in an open manner will demonstrate the value of this platform for the participants and those that are learning about our community.

This Open path is different from the process of our Studies generally.*

How we each participate in this Open platform is important. We request that Advisors do not provide any legal opinion or analysis.   Rather, we ask Advisors simply to respond with evidence using the highlighting tool to identify the key disclosures in the publication.  Then, in this Open Study, the community can discuss the technology description in the responses compared to the Study patent application, called a technical mapping.

The best way to learn - both the community and Team AOP - is getting started.  So we invite you to join us and embark on our latest adventure of AOP: exploring this platform and process with you in the AOP Open!

We also want your participation in deciding the results. Team AOP will select the 3 top responses based on a review of the references in the forum sections.  AOP Advisors can then vote on their favorite and we will add a surprise guest to join in the vote.

For those of you who do submit, we ask that you join the discussions in the forum and tell us why you submitted the reference. We would also love to know if our feedback is as helpful as it could be.

Please visit the discussion forum here.

* Due to the litigation context of some of Studies and the confidential nature of the research - our Studies are confidential and subject to privilege and work product immunity for our Clients. Thus we are not able to share responses in other Studies.  So the AOP Open provides a unique opportunity to open up the process generally completed confidentially by our Clients.
